About Flip Image

Flipping an image mirrors pixel data across a designated axis without altering the aspect ratio or cropping any content. Horizontal flipping mirrors the image from left to right across the vertical center axis, which is commonly used to create natural mirror reflections, invert selfies taken on front-facing cameras, or adjust compositional flow in graphic layouts.

Vertical flipping turns pixels upside down across the horizontal axis, useful for correcting inverted scans, creating water reflection effects, or preparing assets for specialized print workflows.

Our Flip Image tool executes entirely client-side using browser canvas and Web Workers. Your images are transformed on your device and are never uploaded to any remote server or stored in the cloud.

Common Use Cases

Un-mirroring Front-Camera SelfiesFront-facing smartphone cameras often save mirror-flipped images. Flip them horizontally to restore the real-world perspective.
Creative Mirror EffectsCreate symmetric compositions, surreal reflections, and balanced marketing graphics by reversing image direction.
Fixing Inverted Scans & DrawingsQuickly turn upside-down document scans, architectural blueprints, or artwork right-side up.
Design & Composition BalanceAdjust the visual flow of images in website banners and editorial layouts so subjects look toward the copy rather than away.
Notes & Format Guidelines
  • Flipping reverses text, numbers, and logos present inside the image.
  • For JPEG files, re-encoding uses high quality (90%) compression. For PNG, transparency and lossless sharpness are preserved.
  • Batch processing supports up to 20 images simultaneously in memory.

Questions & Answers

Answers to common questions about flip image.

What is the difference between flipping and rotating?

Rotating turns an image clockwise or counter-clockwise by an angle (such as 90° or 180°), swapping width and height on 90° turns. Flipping mirrors the image across an axis (left-to-right or upside down) without changing dimension ratios.

Can I flip multiple photos at the same time?

Yes! You can select up to 20 images at once, apply horizontal or vertical flip to all of them, and download the results individually or as a single ZIP archive.

Will flipping degrade the quality of my PNG graphics?

No. PNG flipping is completely lossless. Transparency channels and pixel sharpness are 100% preserved.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. All transformations run locally in your web browser. No image data is ever uploaded or stored externally.
